(November 2000) Germany now wants its new anti dog laws
adopted across the whole of Europe

Not content with introducing its own draconian laws banning or severly restricting many breeds of dog, Germany now wants the German laws adopted throughout the European Union States!

Addressing the European Commission, the German Minister of the Interior recently called on the Council to support severe restrictions on many current breeds into any EU State. Whilst ti appears that most EU countries support his wild aims, the UK has presently declined to support him. If the UK is outvoted, we could be forced to adopt laws similar to those in Germany which will threaten even more breeds than the inept European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animals.

The Home Office currently oppose any further measures which they consider over prescriptive and believe that current legislation under the Dangerous Dogs Act is sufficient in the UK. But interference from the EU could force them to change this position.
